How to caption a GIF

1. Load your video and trim it.
2. Open the Text tab (it is already open on this page) and type the caption. It uses Anton, a condensed poster face, in white with a black outline, so it stays readable on any background.
3. Choose top or bottom. Bottom is the classic reaction format; top works when the subject's face is low in the frame.
4. Adjust the size. Long captions wrap to up to three lines automatically.
5. Add a watermark such as @yourhandle; it sits in the bottom-right corner, or top-right when a bottom caption is on.

Caption ideas with AI

Describe the clip in a sentence ("my dog sees snow for the first time") and pick a tone. An AI model returns five short caption options you can tap to apply, plus one line of alt text for people using screen readers. Only your sentence is sent, never the video, and nothing is stored.

Keep text readable in a GIF

• Size: at 320 px wide, a caption under about 10% of the height gets hard to read on a phone.
• Length: people see a GIF for two or three seconds. Aim for under about 40 characters.
• Colours: white text with a black outline uses only two palette colours, so it stays crisp even at 32 colours.
• Accessibility: text inside a GIF is invisible to screen readers. When you post it, add the alt text too.
