No Server Uploads

100% Client-Side Processing: Your videos never leave your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit your video files to any server. All conversion happens locally in your web browser using WebAssembly.

• Videos are processed in your browser's memory
• No network requests are made with your video data
• No server-side storage or processing
• You maintain complete control of your files

Local Storage Only

The following data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB:

• Conversion History: Metadata about your past conversions (filename, file size, settings used, timestamp)
• User Preferences: Your preferred settings and editor configurations
• No Video Files: We do NOT store your actual video or GIF files

You are in control: You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings or by using the "Clear History" button in the History page.

No Tracking or Analytics

We do not collect personal information, use analytics, or track your usage. We do not use cookies for tracking purposes.

Third-Party Services

VideoToGif does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data.

• FFmpeg.js: Open-source library for video processing (runs locally)
• No external APIs: No data is sent to external services during conversion
• No authentication: We do not require accounts or logins

Data Sharing and Social Features

When you use the "Share Settings" feature:

• Only your conversion settings (FPS, resolution, quality) are encoded in the URL
• No video content or personal information is included
• Sharing is completely optional and user-initiated
• You can share settings links via Twitter, Reddit, or Discord

Browser Permissions

VideoToGif may request the following browser permissions:

• File Access: To read video files you select for conversion
• Storage (IndexedDB): To save your conversion history locally
• Clipboard: To copy share links when you use the share feature

All permissions are used solely for the stated functionality and never for tracking or data collection.

Data Retention

Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you control retention:

• Data persists until you clear it manually
• Clearing browser data will remove all VideoToGif history
• No data is retained on our servers (we have no servers storing user data)

Children's Privacy

VideoToGif is safe for all ages. Since we do not collect any personal information, we comply with children's privacy laws including COPPA.

Security

Client-side processing is inherently more secure than server-side processing:

• No network transmission of video files
• No risk of server breaches or data leaks
• You maintain complete control of your content
• All processing happens in the sandboxed environment of your browser

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
